New Microsoft Security Vulnerability Aug 14, 2006
Author: Martin Wessel
Microsoft announced today (August 14th, 2006) that a new worm, variously named "Graweg", "Mocbot", "WGAReg", or "Cuebot" was released over the weekend and that the worm expoits a vulnerablilty that the MS06-040 security patch will fix. Major anti-virus makers are rating the threat as "low" and have released signiture updates. The worm moves slowly because it uses the popular AOL Instant Messenger to send itself from computer to computer as opposed to jumping directly as many other worms are able to do. Although this threat is low, NetSolutions Group urges all it's customers to install the security patch as soon as possible as more virulent worms will certainly follow.
